Electron Capture on Nuclei in Stellar Environment

چکیده
The stellar electron capture on nuclei is an essential, semi-leptonic process that especially significant in the central environment of core-collapse supernovae and explosive nucleosynthesis. In this article, basis original (absolute) electron-capture cross-sections under laboratory conditions we computed our previous work for a set medium-weight nuclear isotopes, extend study evaluate folded e−-capture rates environment. With aim, assume parent projectile electrons interact when they are deep interior during late stages evolution massive stars. Under these (high matter densities high temperatures pre-supernova supernova phases), choose two categories nuclei; first includes 48Ti 56Fe isotopes have A<65 belong to iron group nuclei, second heavier more neutron-rich 66Zn 90Zr (with A>65). former, takes place mostly stage, while latter occurs phase. A comparison with calculations, which were obtained by using various microscopic models employed single-charge exchange reactions, also included.

Electron capture on iron group nuclei
We present Gamow-Teller strength distributions from shell model Monte Carlo studies of fp-shell nuclei that may play an important role in the precollapse evolution of supernovae. We then use these strength distributions to calculate the electron-capture cross sections and rates in the zero-momentum transfer limit. We also discuss the thermal behavior of the cross sections. We find large differe...
متن کاملElectron capture rates on nuclei and implications for stellar core collapse.
Supernova simulations to date have assumed that during core collapse electron captures occur dominantly on free protons, while captures on heavy nuclei are Pauli blocked and are ignored. We have calculated rates for electron capture on nuclei with mass numbers A=65-112 for the temperatures and densities appropriate for core collapse. We find that these rates are large enough so that, in contras...

A detailed model is constructed for the calculation of electron capture rates of some fp shell nuclei for situations prevailing in pre-supernova and collapse phases of the evolution of the core of massive stars leading to supernova explosion. The model uses explicitly the Gamow-Teller strength function obtained through (n,p) reaction studies wherever available. The rates include contribution fr...
متن کاملGamow-Teller strengths and electron-capture rates for p f -shell nuclei of relevance for late stellar evolution
Background: Electron-capture reaction rates on medium-heavy nuclei are an important ingredient for modeling the late evolution of stars that become core-collapse or thermonuclear supernovae. The estimation of these rates requires the knowledge of Gamow-Teller strength distributions in the β+ direction. Astrophysical models rely on electron-capture rate tables largely based on theoretical models...
